Today, the EUDA welcomes medical professionals from the Western Balkans and the European Neighbourhood Policy (ENP) countries to discuss the monitoring and response to drug-related emergencies. The two-day meeting is organised in close cooperation with the European Drug Emergencies Network (Euro-DEN Plus) coordination group.
Representatives from 11 sentinel hospitals in Albania, Algeria, Lebanon, North Macedonia, Palestine*, Serbia and Tunisia will exchange recent experiences as well as current plans regarding the collection and reporting of data on drug-related emergencies.
The participants will also share best clinical practices in addressing acute drug-toxicity presentations linked to emerging substances. The discussions will focus on the role of this innovative method of sentinel-based monitoring in enhancing — both at national and European levels — the preparedness to respond to drug-related challenges.
Euro-DEN Plus collects data on presentations to emergency departments for acute drug toxicity. Since 2021, the Euro-DEN Plus network has extended its operations beyond the European Union, in the framework of the Instrument for Pre-accession Assistance (IPA 8) and the EU4Monitoring Drugs (EU4MD II) projects, both funded by the European Union.
